How to Rave Intentionally: Budget, Health & Sustainability Tips | Raveival

Raving intentionally means showing up to festivals prepared, with a plan for your budget, your body, and your wardrobe. Here’s how to make the most of your raving experience.

Make a Festival Budget

Before you begin spending, set a budget for how much you are comfortable spending on the overall experience. First, write out all of your predictable expenses (such as the ticket, housing, food, transportation, outfits, etc). Then, divide your overall budget between the different expense categories. These numbers can serve as goals that you are aiming to not exceed. As you begin booking accommodations and buying the items you need, keep track of how much you are actually spending on each expense category.

How to Take Care of Your Body as a Raver

Here are some tips on taking care of your mind, body, and soul at your next rave.

Pre-Rave Care

Before every rave, its important to take care of your physical health.

  • Diet – Try to consume foods rich in Vitamin C and Iron, as they play important roles in strengthening your immune system. Eating a balanced breakfast the morning of a rave with lots of protein, carbs, and healthy fats will help you stay energized without a crash.
  • Hydrate – Drink lots of water with added electrolytes and a fresh fruit smoothie to hydrate before a rave. Coconut water and sports drinks are tasty options. You can also eat high water content foods like watermelon 🍉 cucumber 🥒 and citrus fruits 🍊

Taking Care of Yourself while Raving

  • Hydrate – Drinking water throughout your day will help you feel great. Adding electrolytes to your beverages will help regulate the balance of fluids inside and outside cells, preventing dehydration. Even if you are not sweating a ton, you are losing water even when you are breathing. Don’t underestimate how impactful being well hydrated can be on your energy level.
  • Wear Ear Plugs – If you want to enjoy years of raving, you need to protect your hearing whenever you are around loud speakers. We suggest trying these reusable or compostable earplugs.
  • Bring a Fan – Crowds can get hot, so hand fans can help you and those around you stay comfortable on the sweaty dance floor.

After the Rave is Over

  • Hydrate – Drinking water will help your muscles recover
  • Diet – Consuming nutrient-rich foods such as proteins, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and antioxidants can aids in recovery. If your diet doesn’t have enough nutrients, you can also add supplements to your diet such as multivitamins, magnesium, vitamin C, and 5-HTP to support recovery.
  • Rest – Catch up on your sleep and feel ok with taking an extra day off from the gym. Your body needs time to rest and recover.
